Huge thank you to Penguin Dry Ice for sponsoring today’s post! And an even BIGGER thank you to you guys for supporting the brands that support this little blog and our little fam! You guys help keep things running around here and we appreciate it more than you know!!
It’s Hocus Pocus time witches!! I absolutely LOVE this time time of year!! The pumpkins, the leaves, the crisp smelling air, the spooky, and of course THE WITCHES! If you’ve been following for a while you know every year I create a spooky tablescape. Well this year….I wanted to up my Halloween game! (See last year’s photos below.)

2018 Halloween Tablescape
As much as I loved my spooky tablescape last year, I knew this year I wanted to step up the creepy just a bit. My kids are getting older and they LOVE Halloween as much as I do so I wanted to do something fun and creative for them (and for me lol).
So I just looked at the date that I originally started this blog post. April 19th, 2019. Ha. 🤦🏻♀️ Guess I got busy, ya know, with school wrapping up, vacationing in Italy, all while planning and preparing for a move across country! 🤯🤯🤯 (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, or that I even moved, lol, I share all about it in this previous post. ) . Needless to say, lol, life has been a little crazy the last few months. I’m sorry that it’s taken me soooooo long to share the details of our super simple DIY photo gallery wall! I updated this wall not too long before we had to move and I absolutely fell in love with it!! I’m going to recreate this exact same look in our new home! Which we officially move into NEXT WEEK!!!! (Champagne waterfalls everywhere!!)
Yay!!!! It’s finally here!!! The new Fall Hearth and Hand line officially launched at Targettoday!!! There are so many beautiful items you guys! I mean duh, would we expect anything less from Queen Joanna?! I wouldn’t necessarily call today Christmas Morning…but it’s a close runner up! Haha!
Seriously though, I love the warm neutrals she used with the subtle pops of traditional fall color! I’m probably loving it so much because it’s exactly what I envisioned when I started thinking through my plans for this year’s fall decor. That must mean me and JoJo are spirit animals. #nootherwaytoseeit Haha okay I’m kidding! I swear I’m not creepy!
Well I guess we better jump into the goodies here before things get weird.
Okay I did it! I put together a Back to School Sales roundup for those of you who still have shopping to do before our favorite little people (or our once little but now big people) head back out to learn some things. I decided not to include actual school supplies (pencils, pens, markers, etc.) because I think most of that is pretty self explanatory. Instead, I tried to focus more on clothing, shoes, larger supplies (backpacks, lunchboxes, etc.), and dorm goodies.
Please note that a lot of these Back To School Sales have expiration dates so you better snag what you need before time runs out!
Howdy ho y’all! Your Weekly Steals for the second week of August have arrived!! (If you wanna go back and take a peek at Week 1, HERE it is!) I just can’t believe we’re cruising into Week 2 already!!🤯🤯🤯 I am NOT ready for the school year to start! I mean, it feels like summer just started! 😭😭😭 My daughter is going into 1st Grade in just a few days and we haven’t even moved into the new house yet! Because of that, we’re going to have to commute for the first 2 weeks, and y’all….I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be downright painful. Waking up a 6 year old and a 4 year old at 5:30am EVERY. DAY!!!! Send prayers. And coffee. And lots of wine.
Amazon fans unite! It’s our favorite day (or days) of the year!! Today and tomorrow (July 15th and 16th) are Amazon Prime Days!! WOOHOO!!! It’s finally here!! What is that you ask? Well, only Amazon’s two best shopping days of the year! For these two days only, Amazon has some AMAZING deals!!! So many great items are deeply discounted making it a great time to snag those splurges you’ve been eyeing, stock up on the necessities, or even begin the dreaded (and often expensive) Christmas shopping!
If you’ve ever built or designed a new home, you know there’s a TON of decision making that goes into it! Like, a ton!! If you’re indecisive like me, it can get to be a little overwhelming. The funny thing is, I always know what I DON’T like, but sometimes it’s hard for me to decide between things that I DO like. That said, the more options I have, the harder it is to nail down my final selection. Soooo….it’ll probably make sense to you when I say that I spent a total of 12 HOURS at the Drees Design Center finalizing all our color and design options for the new home we’re building. If it wasn’t for their super helpful designers I’d probably still be there right now 😂😂.
The other day I asked you guys on Instagram to submit any questions you have about the house or the build process, and as promised, I’m going to answer them here for y’all. So here it goes! Continue reading →
Wow, you guys! Wal-Mart has SERIOUSLY stepped up their game in the Home Decor department over the last couple years. Every season I’m more and more impressed with the fun goodies they come out with!! So, of course they were my go-to when I started shopping around for affordable spring decor!!
If you remember, I did a Wal-Mart Holiday Round-Up a few months back. Well, y’all loved that one so much I thought I’d do another one for Spring!! Pluuuuusss….I may have mentioned this already, (if you follow me on Insta, you know I haven’t stopped mentioning it 😂) but I’m so sick of Winter at this point that I’m literally trying to bury myself in all things Spring! I’m trying to will it here with ALL my might!!
So, because I’m already working on Springifying my home, (and bc tomorrow officially kicks of the start of my second favorite season) I thought I’d share some of the inspiration I’ve pulled from, and give y’all some ideas for refreshing yours!
I’ve been promising y’all forever that I was going to start a blog series on parties, events, and cake decorating! Well, finally, here it is!! Part 1!! If you guys follow me on Instagram, then you probably already know that we (my mom, MIL and me) just made my daughter THE COOLEST two-tiered unicorn cake for her 6th birthday. The amazing response I got after sharing that cake is what finally made me sit down & start this series!! So THANK Y’ALL!!!
I’m so excited to share with you guys over the next few weeks, some of the parties me, my mom, and my sister have hosted together and/or for each other, and for our littles over the last 5+ years! I hope y’all enjoy!!
Rugs. I’m not gonna lie y’all. When it comes to rugs…I always drop the ball! Not because I don’t know how to pick ’em, but because they’re always the LAST thing I think of when it comes to home decor. I am so ashamed to say I have like 3 rugs in my house right now! I know. It’s basically a crime. We have so much wood floor in our house and I only have, MAYBE, 5% of it covered. No wonder my house is cold and my feet always hurt, lol 😂.
Seriously though, I’ve been searching high and low for rugs over these last few weeks and was THRILLED to see that Amazon not only has GREAT options, but they’re SUPER affordable too!! And because I liked what I saw while I was perusing the infinite webspace that is The Amazon Marketplace (seriously, they have SO MUCH STUFF), I decided it might be helpful to go ahead and round-up my absolute fave farmhouse-style finds to share them with you guys as well!!
Well, as ready as I am, I can tell you it’s absolutely no where in sight for those of us here in the Chicagoland area. But, rather than wish away the weeks, I’m actually soaking up these beautiful snow covered views we’ve had the last few days/weeks. Y’all, I’ve never seen snow so glittery!! It literally looks like billions of diamonds covering the ground and trees. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
All that said, I’m still lookin forward to the warmer temps, bright colors, and sweet sweet smells of spring.
I’ve already started brainstorming the aesthetic I’m going for this spring, and while doing that, a light bulb went off! Y’all are always asking me where I get my faux greenery and floral, so as I was shopping around for my spring inspiration, I thought I’d throw a blog post together for y’all to share some of my favorite affordable floral finds!! And the truth is, even though I found these items while brainstorming my spring design plan, most (if not all) of these items would work very nicely for ANY season!! Y’all know I love versatility in my decor!! So the fact that this collection of faux floral and greenery could work all year-round is just an added bonus!!
Because I know the cost of floral and greenery can add up, I made sure to only add items that were super affordable—and where do you think I went to look for these goodies?! T.J. Maxx of course!!! (No, this is NOT sponsored, I just love that their decor is so fairly priced, super on trend, and AVAILABLE ONLINE!! I’m a fan of shopping from my couch if you couldn’t tell, lol.
And just like that the first three weeks of the new year are already over! I seriously can’t believe it! Although, for us, Weeks 1, 2, & 3 were spent recovering from a wicked stomach bug, strep, and scarlet fever; so that could be why it was kind of a blur…my memory must be trying to just block it out. 😂
Anywho, Week 4, I see you! And this week has been dedicated to preparing & planning for 2019! If you’ve followed me on Instagram for awhile, then you already know I’m a planner. And a list maker. And an all around control freak (but that’s neither here nor there). Well, my Holy Grail of planning & staying on track is my Erin Condren Life Planner.
Before I dive in here, let me just start by saying, YES, one of you lucky readers will be taking home a $100 voucher to JORD watches for whatever timepiece your little heart desires!! I’m so excited to see who wins!! (Details on how to enter are included below😉)
Sooooo….with that said, maybe you’ve already heard of JORD watches, maybe you haven’t. One thing you NEED to know right off the bat….they’re AMAZING!!! Now, I’d seen these puppies floating around Instagram for awhile, but boy, lemme tell ya, I WAY underestimated them! Y’all, I ACTUALLY put down my Apple watch to wear this thing. That’s how much I LOVE IT!!! I can’t even explain the look of jealousy my husband gave me when I told him JORD wanted to collaborate with me!! Ahh!! 😂😂 He’s a huge watch buff. So much so that I ALMOST let him pick a watch instead of me. Sorry Babe, not this time, lol. Oh, and yes, they also have Men’s Watches too (do I hear “great gift idea”??)! Continue reading →
One of my FAVORITE things to decorate for the holidays (or any season really) is my dining room table! There’s just something about tablescapes that make me feel all warm & fuzzy! Whether I’m hosting for Christmas or not, I still love to dress up my table. Just makes the whole room feel so warm & magical!!
This year, when I was planning our table setup in my head, greens and garlands just kept poppin’ in there. So I went with it! That became the mental (and literal) centerpiece with which I designed everything around. Now, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here! If you plan to replicate or pull inspiration from what I’m about to show, FEEL FREE TO USE WHATEVER GARLANDS YOU ALREADY HAVE!! No need to go buy more, trust me, I know how expensive they can be! Just use whatever you have lying around! And if it’s not full enough or “interesting” enough for you. I’ll show you some ways to dress it up, without breaking the bank! 😉 That’s actually exactly what I did with mine.
Any of you guys already planning (or trying to plan) your holiday outfits?? 🙋🏻🙋🏻 My excuse is that I’m traveling for the holidays so I’ll have to plan & pack in advance. 😆
But even if that weren’t the case, I’m sure I’d still be franticly searching Pinterest for ideas. Lol. I do it every year!
I noticed, while exercising my thumbs on the Pinterest search page, however, that most of what I was finding was a little too dressy for what I’m going for. Don’t get me wrong…I love a good sequins skirt as much as the next girl, but for our family Christmas, I thought that might be a bit much.
So…I thought some of you might be in that same pickle; looking for some holiday outfit inspo that’s a little more casual, still cute, and can be dressed up or down depending on your choice of accessories. So, if that’s you, then read on Sister! Continue reading →
So, as I’m sure you know, over the past few weeks I’ve shared a few holiday round ups from some of our FAVE budget friendly places to shop. Well, as much as I LOVE those retailers, I also wanted to put something together for y’all that might be a little more “gift giving friendly”. Not that giving (or getting) gifts from Target isn’t fabulous, BECAUSE IT IS!!! But I know sometimes, for Christmas we try & step up our game a little bit for certain people in our lives (Moms, Mother in Laws, Best Friends, Sisters, Grandmothers, Favorite Aunts, etc.)
Okay so I know it took me a little longer than planned to get this out to you guys (so sorry! Y’all know hosting out-of-town family for Thanksgiving can be a little cray. Fun, but cray). But anyway, it’s ready now!! And I’m not gonna lie. Narrowing this down to just a few items was SO HARD!!! I’m a Target junkie!! Seriously, I love EVERYTHING in that store.
You guys wanted me to do a quick round-up while Old Navy was having their HUGE 50% off sale! So I’ve gathered my faves here in this post for y’all! I’ve even included mens & kids items too! Happy Shopping Friends!!
So after a slight delay, I FINALLY finished my Affordable Christmas Finds from Wal-Mart (The Neutral Edition)!! You guys loved the Buffalo Plaid round-up so much I just knew I needed to put one together for my neutral-lovin’ folks out there.
Most of the items I chose are pretty self-explanatory as far as decorating goes, so I’ll keep this short & sweet today! However, if you do happen to have any questions about styling them, etc., please feel free to ask me in the comments below!! Have fun decorating friends!! Continue reading →
If you’re feelin’ the Buffalo Plaid pattern for Christmas this year, boy do I have a treat for you!! I’ve rounded up some ADORABLE buffalo check holiday decor, and guess what….it’s ALL from WAL-MART!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Cute AND affordable?! Count me in!
Alright guys. Today we’re talking simplicity in our wardrobes.
Capsule wardrobes, for those who may be new to them, are all about keeping things simple. The basic principles are: only have things in your closet that you love, that fit you NOW, and that can generally be paired with anything else in your closet.
You’ll notice that capsules typically consist of lots of basic neutrals with just pops of patterns & colors sprinkled in here and there. This allows you to mix & match virtually your whole closet without having to spend too much money! It also makes getting dressed in the morning WAY easier! Gone are the days of standing in your closet staring for 20 minutes before you just start trying on absolutely anything that will fit! If you’ve kept up with your capsule, everything fits!
Now even though the idea of a capsule is to keep it simple , every once in a while, it may be helpful to do a little refresh that brings us back into the appropriate style decade (although, if you held on to things long enough, some of your wardrobe choices from the early 90s may very well be back in style right now, lol). The goal of a style refresh is to just add a few key pieces that will update your look but still allow you to continue wearing most of what you already have in your closet.
So, to help you guys visualize what I mean, I put this little style session together for y’all. This fall I shopped around to see what looks were “trending”, what out of those looks I actually liked, what was “me”, and what would easily fit into my existing capsule. This is what I came up with!
1 Outfit, 8 Different Ways
White Jeans, Plaid Flannel Top, Boots
By incorporating one or two additional pieces from my closet, I was able to create 7 more looks that spun off the first original outfit.
Cute Tan Sweater Added
Maroon Sweater with Plaid Wrapped Around Waist
Maroon Sweater Over Plaid Top
Maroon Sweater Around the Waist
Camel Cardigan Layered On
Maroon Cami Under Layered Sweater Look
White Jeans, Maroon Sweater, Mule Booties
Some of the pieces you see here are brand new (they’re the items I bought as part of my fall refresh), and some I’ve had for a while. I wanted to show you guys here that even with one basic outfit, you can create so many different looks! You can layer it, add color, change a sweater or a jacket, wear it with different shoes, make subtle changes that not only change the look, but allow you to get the most out of your wardrobe (and your wallet)! It’s about being smart with your choices when you’re shopping.
Tip: When you are out shopping, before you buy something, think to yourself, “Can I wear this with at least 5 other things I already own in my closet?” It’s a good way to just make sure that you’re staying true to your capsule’s “theme”, if you will.
I really like the way my capsule came together for fall!! The colors I added in are “in style” & trending, but I of course made a point to stay true to myself & my style! ☺️ The outfits above have been some of my go-to’s this season! I’m loving the chunky sweater look; especially when you can incorporate a fun plaid in there! In Chicago, layers are a must so I nearly always have a cardigan handy too! Again, the point is to you use items you already own to put together some different looks. But, if for some reason you don’t own some of these staples, or you’re still working on putting together a capsule for the first time, just make sure you’re thinking ahead as you buy. Get a visual, (kinda like the series I put together above) to help you decided which pieces will make the biggest impact & give you the biggest return. Can you see several different outfits coming together just by adding one piece? Or do you need to add a few of the basic staples to allow you to create the looks? Whatever the answer, just make sure you’re planning things out to help you stay on track!
Well, hopefully y’all found this helpful! Let me know in the comments below if you guys want to see more of these types of posts! What are some tips/tricks you guys use to stay on track with your capsule? I’d love to know!!
Alright you guys, I have to be honest. I’m probably not the craftiest blogger you follow, not by a long shot…but still, on occasion, I’ll bust out a good (and always easy) DIY that even I can be proud of, lol 😂.
What?🤷🏻♀️ I can be hard to please. 😬
Okay, so this DIY pumpkin craft only requires 4 supplies! Soooo easy!! Annnnnd I got all mine in one place. Can you guess where?? Michaelsof course! Lol! Y’all know I love me some Michaels!
Who loves decorating for Fall?? 🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻 This girl does for sure!! But I also know how expensive it can be decorating year after year, season after season. Styles change, so do our tastes/preferences; & then add to that the constantly evolving trends…sometimes it feels like we need to spend an arm & a leg to decorate for the season. Well, thankfully, that’s just not true!! We can definitely give our homes a little seasonal refresh WITHOUT breaking the bank!
I don’t know exactly what it is about fall, but something about its arrival makes me want to decorate my house like I’m living in my own little personal Hobby Lobby! 😂 I’m talking hours of arranging & rearranging & figuring out where to put my 1,500 fall signs, 350,000 pumpkins, & 2.5 TONS of faux floral. Okay, maybe those numbers are slightly exaggerated (although if you ask my husband he’ll probably say they’re “dead-on-balls-accurate”— My Cousin Vinnie anyone??). The point is, I’m obsessed with this time of year, and pretty much remain in design-mode until early January. Sounds exhausting right? Well it can be, but I LOVE it!
Now, because I know not everyone goes all-out crazy like me, I decided to break up the fall blog posts into smaller (& less overwhelming 😂) chunks. So, last week I shared my Fall Tablescape, today we’re talking about Fall Signs; & coming soon, I’ll be sharing a fun Fall Round-Up (basically some simple & affordable ways to bring autumn indoors). Then, after that, we’ll be talking Halloween Table Ideas! So stay tuned for those.
So the two most common questions I get (outside of “Will you please come decorate my house?” ← huge compliment when y’all ask me that btw) are around styling tiered trays & styling shelves. So, while I was doing a product shoot for one of our trays the other day, I had an idea to put a blog post together with my tiered tray styling methods. I figured this way y’all could just refer back to it anytime you need it! ❤️
Tiered trays…super on trend these days as far as farmhouse decor goes. The great thing about them is, if they don’t look super cute, nobody really cares 😂 (it’s not like you’ll get criticized for having an ugly tiered tray), lol. BUT…if they’re done well, PEOPLE LOVE THEM!!! They can add such fun, flair, & personality to your space & they’re awesome for parties & entertaining! (Here are a few shots of trays I’ve styled in the past)
Hey hey Friends!! It’s here! Your Weekly Steals for August Week 3!
It’s the last Monday before school starts for this crazy crew. My kids are so excited!! I’m dreading it! I don’t really know why exactly. It may be because both my kids get incredibly anxious and cry anytime they have to be somewhere new without out us. There are so many new things they’re going to be exposed to: new schools, new buses, a new house, new teachers, new new new new. I think I’m nervous about how they’re going to adjust, how they’ll be treated, if they’ll be happy…you know, all the “mom” things. That, plus I hate setting my alarm. Haha. That’s the selfish part. Anyway!! I know many of you have started this week or will be starting soon, so good luck to all of you and your littles!!
Mornin’ y’all! Okay, so I’ve been thinking about starting this Weekly Steals series for a while now and today I decided to go ahead and take the plunge! Every week I get inundated with marketing emails of all kinds. Most of the time I just delete and ignore because it just gets to be soooooo much information. I have no doubt that many of you feel (and delete) the same way I do! That said, I thought it would be helpful to start taking those emails, filtering through, and rounding up what I think are the best deals for that week (every week). I’ll then link them here (so you can have them all in one place), share my favorite picks from each retailer, and lastly, do a brief recap of the things I shared on my Instagram stories so you can find them once they disappear.
What do y’all think? Would you find a Weekly Steals & Recap series helpful? Most of the items will be home and home decor related, but I will include any fashion/beauty/lifestyle items I shared throughout the week in my recap portion.
**Also to note, this will be the only time I do a long winded intro for this series. 😂😂 . Just wanted to preface what the plan was here.
