Oh hey! It’s me! I only completed this cheap and easy DIY project like 4 months ago so it’s totally appropriate to be sharing now, right? Sorry!!! I know, I’m sooooo bad at this! I finally got these hideous filing cabinets painted and styled right in time for baby showers, birthdays, and the holiday season and then just TOTALLY bailed on sharing them with y’all. Well, hopefully y’all don’t hate me and are still interested in seeing how I did it!
Okay so you’ve found the PERFECT Christmas tree, and you’ve been searching high and low for that box stand that will go with it perfectly…..annnnnnd you come up short again and again. That’s EXACTLY what happened to me! I finally found my perfect tree for our foyer in the new house, (it’s the King of Christmas10′ King Douglas Fir Slim ) and I just could not find the right Christmas tree box to match it. So, when ya can’t find it, DIY it!!
So I just looked at the date that I originally started this blog post. April 19th, 2019. Ha. 🤦🏻♀️ Guess I got busy, ya know, with school wrapping up, vacationing in Italy, all while planning and preparing for a move across country! 🤯🤯🤯 (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, or that I even moved, lol, I share all about it in this previous post. ) . Needless to say, lol, life has been a little crazy the last few months. I’m sorry that it’s taken me soooooo long to share the details of our super simple DIY photo gallery wall! I updated this wall not too long before we had to move and I absolutely fell in love with it!! I’m going to recreate this exact same look in our new home! Which we officially move into NEXT WEEK!!!! (Champagne waterfalls everywhere!!)
Hey hey Friends!! It’s here! Your Weekly Steals for August Week 3!
It’s the last Monday before school starts for this crazy crew. My kids are so excited!! I’m dreading it! I don’t really know why exactly. It may be because both my kids get incredibly anxious and cry anytime they have to be somewhere new without out us. There are so many new things they’re going to be exposed to: new schools, new buses, a new house, new teachers, new new new new. I think I’m nervous about how they’re going to adjust, how they’ll be treated, if they’ll be happy…you know, all the “mom” things. That, plus I hate setting my alarm. Haha. That’s the selfish part. Anyway!! I know many of you have started this week or will be starting soon, so good luck to all of you and your littles!!
Howdy ho y’all! Your Weekly Steals for the second week of August have arrived!! (If you wanna go back and take a peek at Week 1, HERE it is!) I just can’t believe we’re cruising into Week 2 already!!🤯🤯🤯 I am NOT ready for the school year to start! I mean, it feels like summer just started! 😭😭😭 My daughter is going into 1st Grade in just a few days and we haven’t even moved into the new house yet! Because of that, we’re going to have to commute for the first 2 weeks, and y’all….I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be downright painful. Waking up a 6 year old and a 4 year old at 5:30am EVERY. DAY!!!! Send prayers. And coffee. And lots of wine.
Rugs. I’m not gonna lie y’all. When it comes to rugs…I always drop the ball! Not because I don’t know how to pick ’em, but because they’re always the LAST thing I think of when it comes to home decor. I am so ashamed to say I have like 3 rugs in my house right now! I know. It’s basically a crime. We have so much wood floor in our house and I only have, MAYBE, 5% of it covered. No wonder my house is cold and my feet always hurt, lol 😂.
Seriously though, I’ve been searching high and low for rugs over these last few weeks and was THRILLED to see that Amazon not only has GREAT options, but they’re SUPER affordable too!! And because I liked what I saw while I was perusing the infinite webspace that is The Amazon Marketplace (seriously, they have SO MUCH STUFF), I decided it might be helpful to go ahead and round-up my absolute fave farmhouse-style finds to share them with you guys as well!!
Well, as ready as I am, I can tell you it’s absolutely no where in sight for those of us here in the Chicagoland area. But, rather than wish away the weeks, I’m actually soaking up these beautiful snow covered views we’ve had the last few days/weeks. Y’all, I’ve never seen snow so glittery!! It literally looks like billions of diamonds covering the ground and trees. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
All that said, I’m still lookin forward to the warmer temps, bright colors, and sweet sweet smells of spring.
I’ve already started brainstorming the aesthetic I’m going for this spring, and while doing that, a light bulb went off! Y’all are always asking me where I get my faux greenery and floral, so as I was shopping around for my spring inspiration, I thought I’d throw a blog post together for y’all to share some of my favorite affordable floral finds!! And the truth is, even though I found these items while brainstorming my spring design plan, most (if not all) of these items would work very nicely for ANY season!! Y’all know I love versatility in my decor!! So the fact that this collection of faux floral and greenery could work all year-round is just an added bonus!!
Because I know the cost of floral and greenery can add up, I made sure to only add items that were super affordable—and where do you think I went to look for these goodies?! T.J. Maxx of course!!! (No, this is NOT sponsored, I just love that their decor is so fairly priced, super on trend, and AVAILABLE ONLINE!! I’m a fan of shopping from my couch if you couldn’t tell, lol.
One of my FAVORITE things to decorate for the holidays (or any season really) is my dining room table! There’s just something about tablescapes that make me feel all warm & fuzzy! Whether I’m hosting for Christmas or not, I still love to dress up my table. Just makes the whole room feel so warm & magical!!
This year, when I was planning our table setup in my head, greens and garlands just kept poppin’ in there. So I went with it! That became the mental (and literal) centerpiece with which I designed everything around. Now, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here! If you plan to replicate or pull inspiration from what I’m about to show, FEEL FREE TO USE WHATEVER GARLANDS YOU ALREADY HAVE!! No need to go buy more, trust me, I know how expensive they can be! Just use whatever you have lying around! And if it’s not full enough or “interesting” enough for you. I’ll show you some ways to dress it up, without breaking the bank! 😉 That’s actually exactly what I did with mine.
Okay so I know it took me a little longer than planned to get this out to you guys (so sorry! Y’all know hosting out-of-town family for Thanksgiving can be a little cray. Fun, but cray). But anyway, it’s ready now!! And I’m not gonna lie. Narrowing this down to just a few items was SO HARD!!! I’m a Target junkie!! Seriously, I love EVERYTHING in that store.
So after a slight delay, I FINALLY finished my Affordable Christmas Finds from Wal-Mart (The Neutral Edition)!! You guys loved the Buffalo Plaid round-up so much I just knew I needed to put one together for my neutral-lovin’ folks out there.
Most of the items I chose are pretty self-explanatory as far as decorating goes, so I’ll keep this short & sweet today! However, if you do happen to have any questions about styling them, etc., please feel free to ask me in the comments below!! Have fun decorating friends!! Continue reading →
